Max, alongside four other students part of the consultant team, created an alternative to the existing Speer and I-25 partial cloverleaf interchange. Their vision centered around four big moves:
1. Reduce the footprint of the interchange.
2. Create a public space that captures the view of downtown Denver.
3. Create a comfortable, bicycle and pedestrian connection across I-25.
4. Extend the urban form east of I-25 to create a new, pedestrian-oriented district.
Key contributions to the project included:
- Existing conditions analysis.
- Visioning and concept generation.
- Presentations to a Denver councilperson, the client (Stantec) and other stakeholders like CDOT and Denver Streets Partnership.
- A three dimensional Trimble SketchUp model of the alternative concept.
