Part of his work at the Denver Regional Council of Governments (or DRCOG), Max supported the development of regional Priority and Comprehensive Climate Action Plans and a winning $199.7 million building decarbonization grant proposal. Max helped to identify transportation strategies for DRCOG to take on and co-wrote the plans and grant proposal.
The winning grant proposal has evolved into a transformational program: Power Ahead Colorado. The program seeks to decarbonize the Denver region's building sector by making it easier for building owners to choose electric heating and cooling options.
The program includes:
- Free energy advising services
- Rebates for heat pump installations
- Whole-home retrofitting for low-income households
- Green workforce development (to support all of this new work!)
- Funding to support local government sustainability work and policy shifts
